Being named after an herb laid my farming future ahead of me before I ever put my hands in the dirt.
This is the journey of a beginning farmer growing for health minded persons in the Lone Star State: As a child I spent most of my life in town living in a small community with a curiosity of where food comes from and who produces it. From my earliest memories I have always wanted to be a farmer (except when I wanted to be a archaeologist, thanks to Jurassic Park).
After college I found myself burnt out, aimlessly dropping out of graduate school and honing skills tending craft cocktail bars (that made my parents super happy). After so many long nights, I began wanted something more, I began grooming those feelings I had as a child. Where does food come from? How does it grow? What can I do to make a difference in the food system and industry?
Well after rolling up my sleeves, working hard, and continuing to grow my knowledge I found myself in the agricultural world. I began "growing" a greenhouse, growing produce in that greenhouse, and now expanding to outdoor crops with livestock, tractors, and Texas heat (oh my). Now, I am aiming to fulfill that dream of farming. This will be a notebook and journal of that journey: my ups, my downs, my research, my produce, and how I am trying to live my best life!
